We are exited to welcome Dr. Cothran to our dental team in October! Dr. Michelle Cothran grew up in Cary and attended North Carolina State University. After graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in biological sciences and a minor in nutrition, she decided to pursue her passion for dentistry. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. After graduating, she stayed in Virginia and served patients in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Her goal is always to make patients feel as comfortable as possible while receiving dental care. Dr. Cothran loves dentistry for its opportunities to help people and the artistic touch needed to be successful. Outside of dentistry she also enjoys painting, hiking with her dog, and watching NASCAR. On her time off, she likes to travel around the world and eat the local cuisine. Her favorite is ceviche from Peru! Dr. Cothran and her husband, Michael, are excited to be back in their home state of North Carolina!

"My father was an architectural illustrator, so I grew up seeing and
understanding both function and beauty in nature and in
buildings. When I graduated dental school, my first passion was in beauty. I took courses in cosmetics dentistry in New York, where I was able to learn from some of the nation’s best in smile design.
As my practice developed and my experience grew, I realized that function and the hinge from which our mouth swings needed more education. With this in mind, I’ve studied in Florida with Pete Dawson to learn more about function.
My passion now is to blend what I’ve learned into the ability to diagnose and think long-term about what is in the patient’s best interest. It’s easy to cut down teeth for crown & veneers and improve beauty quickly. I want to look with a detailed evaluation of a patient's function/occlusion, then I am able transform a patient's smile aesthetically and also add function to their smile. Dentistry today is amazing and exciting, and patients need to understand all the pieces to a beautiful life-long smile.
My team assists me in educating our patients so they understand what good dentistry is before the work is done. We want patients to have beauty and function of their teeth for a lifetime and as well as good health."
